Social Copy for Posting your Blog on Social

When it comes to posting your blogs on social media it is important to try and entice your followers to want to click the link to your article. Remember, asking your followers to leave whatever social media platform they are currently scrolling on is a big ask of them. Publishing your articles on social media will never perform as well as cute pet pics or funny memes, but it is an important part of your social media strategy. Even if only a handful of followers visit your website, if one of them schedules an appointment, it was worth that post.

Simply reposting the title of the blog, or not writing any copy at all for your post is not sufficient enough to pique the interest of your followers, and motivate them to stop their scrolling and click.

Here is a basic template that you can use to write the post copy for your blogs.

  1. Open with a question. Asking a questions immediately engages the user, and invites them into the post (by helping make it about them).

  2. Copy-paste the introduction paragraph of the blog and break it up into chunks if it is long.

  3. End with a CTA (Call-to-action). People need to be told what action to take next. A well worded CTA will entice them to click the link.

  4. *Bonus: Add well-placed emojis to break up the text. It helps the reader move through the copy by drawing their eyes to read more.

Example: You are publishing the blog “Are dental decays hereditary? ” on social media. If using this template, your copy could look similar to this:

Dental decay isn't hereditary, but certain conditions can increase susceptibility, like defective enamel or dentine.
