Google Ads and Call Conversions
Have you ever noticed that sometimes the call tracking number on your website changes? You're not imagining things - there is a reason for this!
In order for Genius Platforms to be able to record call conversions that were generated by a Google Ad, we place a piece of tracking code on your website that identifies if a website user has entered the site via a Google Ad.
If the tracking code determines that the user did enter the site via an ad, it automatically updates the phone number on your website and replaces it with a Google forwarding number so that the website can pass back conversion data to Google Ads.
As a result, anyone from your website who is seeing the phone number change means they clicked on an ad sometime in the last 30 days and Google is remembering to swap out the main phone number with a google tracking number.
If this is an issue for your own internal staff, you can tell them not to click their own ads and that will solve the problem (plus we don't want your staff clicking on your Google Ads as it does detract from your budget!). To solve the problem immediately, you can suggest that they clear their cache and cookie data and visit the site again they shouldn't see that tracking number anymore (unless they click an ad again).
If you are seeing your phone number change but are not running ads, clear your cache and try again, if it persists, please submit a ticket and we will investigate the issue!
